#6 Parkside Ranger wrestling team is on the road this weekend for back to back away duals. First they will take on Sioux Falls on Friday night at 7pm and then they turn around to wrestle Saturday afternoon at 4pm against #11 Augustana. Both teams are located in Sioux Falls but the University of Sioux Falls is a newer program.
Get comfortable with hearing Sioux Falls as it is home to the 2026 NCAA division 2 national tournament as well.
The first night the Rangers will look to extend their winning stream and their dual streak against the Sioux Falls Cougars. The Rangers are currently on a 5 match winning streak going into Friday. They also have a 2 match winning streak against the Cougars as those are the only 2 meetings between the teams. Last year the Rangers shut out the Cougars 46-0.
I’m not sure what Head Coach Nick Becker plans to do with his lineup, but I would not be surprised to see many of the starters sit Friday night against Sioux Falls as they prepare for a big dual Saturday afternoon. Both of which you can watch on the NSIC network live.
The real meat and potatoes of this road trip will take place down the road against #11 Augustana who defeated the Rangers last year in the dual in Kenosha, 22-15. Parkside will look to respond by knocking off the Vikings in their home gym. That however is not the last time these two teams faced as they clashed at National Duals last season. Parkside came away with a 31-6 victory, but Augustana sat a handful of their starters.
I would not anticipate this to be the case and I would expect all 4 of their nationally ranked wrestlers to be in the lineup. They might only have 4 ranked, but don’t let the number fool you. Augustana has a very tough program and their other 6 wrestlers will be physical and ready for a scrap. The Vikings are led by Wisconsin native #1 Max Ramberg at 197 pounds. He will face #13 for the Rangers Jordan Blanchard. Both of these guys aren’t afraid of a physical match and both come from smaller Wisconsin towns.
Elsewhere we will likely see two other head to head nationally ranked matchups. First at 149 pounds in a top 10 match between #2 Jalen Spuhler for Parkside and #6 Nolan Ambrose for Augustana. These two have not yet met in competition.
Then at 174 pounds it gets even better with a top 5 matchup between #3 Dajun Johnson vs Parkside and #5 Coy Gunderson for Augustana. This will be an exciting matchup they I recommended tuning in for. These two will likely meet again at regionals and possibly nationals.
Parkside will be the favorite going into this dual but Augustana is a team you cannot take lightly. If you do, then they will smack you in the mouth and leave you wondering how you let that dual get away. They also have some rowdy fans so as the away team traveling in, it can both be fun to play into, but also overwhelming with emotions if you aren’t prepared.
Overall the expectations are that the Rangers will walk away 2-0 and extend their winning streak to 7. Then next week would be their final dual at home in De Simone Arena on the 14th against #13 St. Cloud at 7pm.
