It’s senior day for the Parkside Rangers in Kenosha Wisconsin tomorrow. The dual against #13 St. Cloud kicks off at 2pm in De Simone Arena. The Rangers are 12-3 on the season and 7-2 in conference. Last weekend they were 1-1 in NSIC duals dropping their second dual to #11 Augustana. They have a chance to end the dual season on a high note over conference rival St. Cloud Saturday.
The St. Cloud Huskies are 16-2 on the season and 9-0 in conference. A win Saturday gives them the NSIC title once again. Their two losses came to Nebraska Kerney and Lander, both top 10 programs.
The Rangers have a total of 7 ranked wrestlers on their squad and are the higher ranked team. But given St. Cloud’s record and their track history you should not be fooled at just how good they are. Despite only having 4 ranked wrestlers they have a very formidable team. Every year it seems a backup will take over the starting spot and make the national tournament. This should be a tight dual.
The marquee match of the dual is going to come at 157 pounds between #4 Worachek for the Rangers and #2 Jesuroga for the Huskies. A top 5 showdown between two guys who have not previously wrestled. Worachek lost in the dual against Augustana last week 3-2. This matchup would be huge for not only the team but his seeding come regionals.
Not mentioned but worth noting is the Huskies added another Glazier to their roster, this time from their coaching staff. Zach Glaizer who was a Big Ten finalist for Iowa still had some eligibility left and is now the Huskies heavyweight. Cooper Caraway will have his work cut out for him.
Overall the Rangers should be favored in 6 matches with Corrigan, Spuhler, Hemauer, Johnson, Blanchard and Chi at 133 who I think will be taking the mat. As always this dual seems to be both intense and a barn burner. I would expect nothing less come Saturday as it is the last dual of the season for both teams.
