Parker Keckeisen Wins Gold at Zagreb Open (86 kg)
Parker Keckeisen claimed gold at the Zagreb Open, delivering an impressive run through a stacked 86 kg bracket highlighted by victories over multiple world level opponents.
Keckeisen opened the tournament with a dominant 11-0 technical fall over Mukul Dahiya of India, who finished fifth at the Senior World Championships. In the quarterfinals, he secured a fall against Gabriel McDuffie of Sierra Leone after building a 13-4 lead.
In the semifinals, Keckeisen defeated Iran’s Ali Savadkouhi, 9-5. Savadkouhi is a U23 World bronze medalist and the 2023 Zagreb Open champion.
In the finals Keckeisen defeated Georgia’s Vladimeri Gamkrelidze, 4-3. Gamkrelidze was a 2024 Olympian and Senior World silver medalist.
Also competing at 86 kg was fellow American Zahid Valencia, who fell to Gamkrelidze in the semifinals by technical fall, 11-0.
