Bay Port’s Jacob Ward announced yesterday that he has committed to the University at the Cumberlands. Ward is currently ranked 20th in WIwrestle’s Top 50 P4P and 10th in the senior rankings. Ward is projected to be a 49/57 pounder for the Patriots. 

Ward is a 3 time state medalist and this past season he won a state title at 145 pounds finishing the season 44-2. He defeated Cody Goebel of Mukwonago in the finals 6-5. 

Ward will be joining current Patriot and Wisconsin native Harrison Brooks. Brooks is currently a redshirt Junior and is wrestling 165 lbs. The Patriots have had several Wisconsin recruits over the past 5 years including Ramsey Bloy of Freedom and Tres and Trent Leon of Kaukauna. 

The Patriots have been dominant the past few seasons in the NAIA as they sent all 10 of their starters the the national championships this past season with 2 wrestlers claiming all-american status. 

Ward will be competing in the first annual Who’s The Big Cheese. More information including the match ups will be released this Monday, October 3rd.
